EUREKA Phytoremediation Project
Cyprus (2007-2010)
Together with Flemish and Cypriot partners, Ecorem is involved in an innovative EU funded project on the application of phytoremediation and phytostabilisation to clean up abandoned mining sites in Central Cyprus. Here, soil and groundwater are occasionally severely polluted with base metals due to acid mine drainage. An extension of this project into the Balkans and Romania is in preparation.
