Management Plan for Abandoned Mining Sites and Landfills
Romania (2005-2006)
Contaminated mining and dumping sites in SW Romania need to be rehabilitated to reduce the negative effects on local populations and ecosystems. A comprehensive regional management plan was developed as an example for many other areas in Romania, struggling with similar problems. Capacity building was assured through a Flemish-Romanian workshop and a training session with field visits. The project was supported by the Flemish Government and the local authorities and agencies.
